Biography

Catalin Neacsu was born in Timisoara, Romania in 1966 and now lives in Brussels, Belgium.  His educational background includes studies at
The Polytechnic Institute in Timisoara, Romania,
The University of Fine Arts in Timisoara, Romania, and
The Royal Academy of fine Arts in Brussels, Belgium

His work originates from a fascination with the artistic anatomy of the human body and the rendering of light on that anatomy.  From these humble beginnings, his work has evolved to create an imaginary world based on a realistic and accurate observation of the human body placed into ethereal and diaphanous surroundings which metamorphically and spiritually transform reality.
The creative use of imagination, light and the human body presents a unique insight into this imaginary world where reality can be fluid, flowing or even plastic.  Joy, melancholy and the ephemerality of the human condition come to life in these drawings, paintings and sketches.  They explode onto the observer’s consciousness to boggle and enlighten the unconscious mind, and call into question all and everything.  The enigma of man, of life itself, and drama betwixt them, is the Damoclesic dynamic in play.

Mr. Neacsu’s works can be found in collections throughout Romania, Canada, France and Belgium.
